About YMCA of Delaware
Mission: The YMCA of Delaware’s mission is to empower youth, foster healthy living, and promote strong communities. Our vision is a healthy, inclusive community where all people reach their full potential.
Established in 1889, the YMCA of Delaware impacts the lives of over 150,000 individuals each year through its 7 full-service branches, an urban youth development center, two outdoor recreation complexes, an overnight resident camp, and numerous school partnership sites across the state. We believe our community is strongest when everyone has access to opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive.
For more than 135 years, we've remained committed to empowering youth, fostering healthy living, and building stronger, more equitable communities throughout Delaware. Our programs address critical community needs by preventing chronic diseases like diabetes, promoting educational equity, and ensuring all Delawareans have access to transformative experiences. In 2024 alone, we provided more than $5.24 million in financial assistance, making life-changing YMCA services accessible to nearly 17,000 youth and adults statewide.
