CHEER, Inc.
Organization Mission:
At CHEER, Inc., we’re on a mission to combat food insecurity and social isolation among Sussex County’s senior population, empowering adults aged 50+ to live healthier, happier, and more independent lives. Through innovative programs and compassionate services, we address the unique challenges of aging with dignity and grace.
About CHEER, Inc.
- Eliminating Food Insecurity: CHEER provides thousands of nutritious meals each week, both in our vibrant Activity Centers and through our life-saving Meals on Wheels program for homebound seniors. No one in Sussex County should face hunger, especially our elders.
- Combating Social Isolation: We create opportunities for seniors to connect, grow, and thrive through engaging activities like arts and crafts, exercise classes, entertainment, Bible study, Memory Café sessions, and so much more. For those seniors who cannot leave their homes, the smiling face of a Meals on Wheels delivery volunteer may be the light of their day.
- Promoting Independence: From in-home personal assistance and adult day programs to reliable transportation services, CHEER ensures seniors have the support they need to remain active and independent in their homes and communities.
- Building a Community: Our eight CHEER Activity Centers, located in Georgetown, Greenwood, Lewes, Long Neck, Milton, Ocean View, and Roxana, serve as hubs of friendship, wellness, and fun. Seniors gather here for meals, local trips, volunteer opportunities, support groups, and enriching educational sessions.
