Combined Campaign for Justice (CCJ)

More than 100,000 Delawareans live in poverty and need help with legal issues they can’t solve on their own. Unlike in the criminal justice system, there is no constitutional right to counsel in civil cases. Most low-income people who face pressing civil legal problems must navigate the legal system alone.  

Community Legal Aid Society, Inc. (CLASI), Delaware Volunteer Legal Services, Inc. (DVLS), and Legal Services Corporation of Delaware (LSCD) work to fill that gap. Together these organizations provide free legal services to Delaware’s most vulnerable residents -- people who are poor, people with disabilities, and people over the age of sixty (among others). There is a significant justice gap in the United States—and in Delaware—more than ninety percent of the civil legal needs of poor people are going unmet. 

The Combined Campaign for Justice raises money for all three legal aid agencies-- funds raised by CCJ make up 15% of each agency's yearly budget.
