About Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park
Mission: The Friends of Cape Henlopen State Park (FOCHSP) is an independent non-profit volunteer organization that works with park staff to maintain and enhance Cape Henlopen State Park.
FOCHSP appreciates your donations that allow us to continue to support park programs:
- The Borrow-a-Bike program enables visitors to borrow a bike for free and tour our beautiful park.
- The Thatcher and YES grants fund school children and youth group experiences in nature and participation in educational programs provided by the Cape Henlopen State Park Nature Center.
- Purchase of beach access mats for dune crossings, beach-accessible wheelchairs, renovation of the park’s disc golf course, bicycle fix-it stations, water fountains, and restrooms.
- Construction and maintenance of the park playground.
- Grant monies for refurbishment of the boardwalk at the McBride Bathhouse.
- A monarch butterfly feeding station next to the Biden Center.
Plans include funding for improvements such as shade structures in the picnic area and eco-friendly ground cover for the children’s playground.
