About Wilmington Library
Mission: Providing dynamic information, resources, programs and special events designed to inspire while satisfying the educational, cultural and literary needs of the public.
There is evidence, in the form of a hand written receipts, that the earliest Wilmington Library was first incorporated in 1754. So the Wilmington Public Library has a proven track record of adapting to change meeting the needs of our patrons through traditional books, audio/visual media, interactive programming and now virtual electronic resources. In its third century of service, the Library is truly aware of the challenges presented by an information oriented society faced with the "new normal." Thankfully we have innovative, experienced leadership, librarians, programmers and support staff who will continue serving the city of Wilmington for years to come!
