Buck$ for Books

A fundraiser for United Way of Delaware (UWDE)

$1,640 raised from 13 donors

$2,500 goal

The Buck$ for Books team composing of Allison Ditmars, Angie Cright, Debbie Finch, Denise Royster, Jenae Willingham, Lucy O'Donnell, Dan Cruce and John Moore is addressing children's potential to fulfill their dreams through the power of education that comes from reading. Putting books in the hands of students, especially those in marginalized communities like those we at United Way of Delaware focus on can make a positive impact.

Proof of this success is with our educational partners at Fairview Elementary School who recently won the 2023 National and State Read Bowl Primary Conference Championship. Read Bowl is the FREE global reading competition where PK-8 aged teams around the globe compete to read for the most minutes. There were 110,943 participants from around the world that read for 87,145,634 minutes. And if these students at Fairview Elementary can be champions at reading then so can all children.

Help us make this a possibility through BUCK$ FOR BOOKS. Please make a donation. Thank you!

About United Way of Delaware (UWDE)

Mission: At United Way of Delaware, we're answering the call to help our community thrive. We're working to ensure kids can read on grade level by third grade, support career and college success for youth, connect families to vital resources through Delaware 211, and empower individuals with the tools they need to achieve financial stability. It’s about creating lasting change that lifts up everyone, not just offering temporary fixes.

When you give to United Way of Delaware you are helping children and families. Whether it's a kindergartner who lacks the resources to learn remotely, or a family calling 2-1-1 seeking immediate shelter, United Way of Delaware has initiatives in the community that make an impact in the lives of real people.
